Dr Ashwin graduated from the University of Queensland in 1981 and has been in general practice at Mermaid Beach since 1986. He was awarded a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1987 and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of GPs in 1988. Special interests are in asthma, pregnancy, weight loss and spinal manipulation.
Dr Exelby graduated from the University of Queensland in 1973, working in Southport with Dr George Bertsos. His primary areas of concern involve the use of advanced techniques to determine and manage cardiovascular and cerebrovascular risk, plus the management of fibromyalgia syndrome, dysautonomia, migraine prevention and problems associated with food intolerance including atopic eczema, neonatal colic, reflux and IBS.
Dr Jackson graduated from Sydney University in 1973, then moved to Brisbane. He worked in Queensland country hospitals for two years before settling in his Coffs Harbour practice for 15 years. His areas of interest are sports medicine, skin disorders and antenatal care.
Dr Cuffe graduated from the University of Queensland in 1992 and worked at Gold Coast Hospital and PAH in Brisbane. He worked in Gympie and in the northern suburbs of Brisbane before joining us. His interests include acupuncture, especially for muscle injuries and pain relief.
Dr Benjamin graduated from the University of Sydney in 1989. She was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners in 1996. She is a certified Triple P practitioner (Level 3). Her area of special interest is women's health and paediatrics; she also skin cancer checks and recreational diving medical examinations. Lil joined the Mermaid Central Medical Clinic in 2005.
Dr Roughan graduated from the University of Queensland in 1984. She was awarded a Diploma of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in 1998, a Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of GPs in 1991 and a Certificate in Family Planning in 1995. She has worked in general practice on the Coast for over 10 years and her area of interest is women's health.
Dr Fisser graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa with a degree in Pharmacy in 1987, and a degree in Medicine in 1996. He requalified in the UK, becoming a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (UK), and later a Fellow of the Australian College of General Practitioners. His special interests are travel medicine, ante-natal care, minor surgery, skin disorders, care of the elderly and paediatrics. He also has extensive training in cosmetic enhancement, including wrinkle reduction and facial fillers. Dr Suarez has been practising medicine for nearly 20 years firstly in Colombia, then New Zealand and now Australia. Her interests lie in preventative medicine, women's health, chronic disease management, skin cancer checks, general practice and family planning, where she is trained in implanon and Intrauterine device insertions. Angela has extensive experience in cosmetic enhancements using anti-wrinkle treatments and facial fillers. She is also fluent in Spanish.
Dr Baragry has worked in Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Toowoomba, Rural Queensland and New Irelend in PNG. He has extensive experience in a number of areas including Orthopaedic Surgery, Radiation oncology, Emergency Medicine, and Vascular Surgery. During this time he had the opportunity to assist some of the best surgeons in Queensland and also achieved his Masters in Sports Medicine. Dr Soo graduated with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy in 2002, a Masters in Musculoskeletal & Sports Physiotherapy in 2005, and completed his Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery in 2014. Since then, he has completed the IOC Diploma in Sports Medicine, RANZCOG Certificate of Women's Health, ACEM Emergency Medicine Certificate, and the Dermatology College Skin Cancer: Practical Dermoscopy certificate. He has worked as a Field of Play & Athlete Medical Post doctor at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, and was the Hockey Venue Medical Manager at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games. Dr Soo is passionate about helping people achieve their health and life goals; and has a special interest in sports and musculoskeletal medicine, preventative medicine, workplace injuries and rehabilitation, weight loss medicine, women's and men's health, pregnancy management, contraception and family planning, sexual health, spinal rehabilitation, adult ADHD, skin checks, travel medicine, lifestyle improvement, and explaining complicated medical/health concepts in a way that is simple to understand.
