Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) doesn't only affect children. Many adults live with it, sometimes without ever being assessed. If you've wondered whether ADHD might explain some of what you experience, talking to a GP who takes it seriously is a good place to start. At our clinic, Dr Chris Soo and Dr Christian Allen have a strong interest in mental health and ADHD.
How we can help
Your GP can talk through your concerns, take a history, and help you understand whether assessment for ADHD makes sense for you. ADHD care in Australia often involves working with other professionals, such as a psychiatrist or psychologist, particularly for formal diagnosis and certain treatments. We can help guide you through that process and provide ongoing support alongside it.

Dr Chris Soo is a member of the RACGP's mental health and ADHD, ASD and neurodiversity special interest groups, and a member of the Australasian ADHD Professionals Association. Dr Christian Allen provides care to patients of all ages and speaks both English and Danish. Both make time for patients who are doing it tough.

Your GP is a good starting point and can help you understand whether assessment makes sense. Formal diagnosis in Australia often involves a specialist, and your GP can guide you through that process.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to start a conversation with your GP. If you go on to see a specialist, your GP can arrange that.
Can you prescribe ADHD medication?
Some ADHD treatments are started or overseen by specialists such as psychiatrists. Your GP will explain how this works and support you through the process.
