Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral for women's health care?

No referral is needed to see a GP. If you need to see a specialist, your GP can arrange a referral.

Can I have an implant or IUD fitted at the clinic?

Yes. We offer insertion and removal of contraceptive implants and IUDs. Implant insertion and removal are bulk billed, and your doctor will discuss pain management and aftercare with you beforehand.

How often do I need a cervical screening test?

For most people, screening is recommended every five years. Your doctor will let you know what's right for you based on your history.

Can you help with menopause symptoms?

Yes. Your doctor can talk through your symptoms and the options for managing them, which may include hormone replacement therapy and non-hormonal approaches, guided by current Australian clinical guidelines.

How early can I have a medical termination?

Medical termination is available early in pregnancy, up to nine weeks. If you've already had an ultrasound and blood tests, bring the results with you. You can read more on our Medical Termination of Pregnancy page.

Are consultations confidential?

Yes. Every women's health consultation is private and confidential.
